Root & Spark Collective welcome posts on any topic, in any medium (yes, visual, musical), from any region of the earth that are clearly feminist in perspective for our blog project, Feminist Grounds!
We are happy to cross-post from your other platforms, it’s a collective!!!! Not all our projects will be in/for the collective, but those that are we can share to the ‘stack, create a Feminist Ecosystem. Previously published/shared content is welcome!! We want women to read your content as much as ours.
Our style is friendly, informal, conversational, exploring, welcoming, we will Practice In Public to show women that being imperfect is not shameful or an impediment to getting on with our projects and dreams. Part of the goal here is to reduce the intimidation factor around creating, critiquing, dreaming out loud, and confronting the world.
We hope for short posts (<1000 words) written by and for regular women. We want Feminist Grounds to be faster and much more bite-sized than TRN but slower and more thoughtful or inquiring than Twitter. Deeper than a daily news blog, but more conversational than a deep dive. Think of a campfire where women talk over the issues of the day.
Cross-posts and Re-posts welcome. We have a very light editorial process. Two admins need to approve your post, and we can do light copy editing if needed. We want to keep this space light and nimble.
Publish with your name or anonymously. We get it.
We welcome, but do not require, voice recordings to accompany posts, to free women’s hands, to add human texture to the estrangement some feel with ‘Writing.’ (You can use your phone and email the voice file to us, it’s plenty good enough. The recordings can include little mess-ups, the sound of life in the background–my dog barks in one I made and I am constantly tripping over my tongue! - ES).
